Community members are reminded that the category 2 and 3 burn ban is in effect at noon on Friday.
The ban is specific to open fires of a certain height, width and area, and also applies to fireworks.
It does not apply to campfires, which fall under Category 1.
However, campfires cannot be any bigger than a half-metre high by a half-metre wide.
Also still permitted are cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes.
The Coastal Fire Centre covers Vancouver Island, Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park in the north, the Sunshine Coast, the Lower Mainland, the Gulf Islands and Haida Gwaii.
Similar bans are in place in other parts of the province.
