BC Wildfire Service getting some help from Alberta as it continues to battle the Maria Creek and Keremeos Creek wildfires.
Crews from Grand Prairie and White Court arrived on the scene yesterday, supporting local crews with sustained action which can mean fire suppression, burn operations, establishing pump and hose lines and removing fuel.
The Wildfire Service says it has a longstanding tradition of resource sharing with our neighbours, made possible through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre. The national body coordinates resource sharing, mutual aid and info sharing between agencies.
Close to a dozen fire crews from Vancouver Island are also assisting fighting the Keremeos wildfire, which has grown to about 7-thousand hectares since it was first sparked on July 29th.
