The BC Conservatives are now a party of two.
Abbotsford South MLA Bruce Banman has left the BC United Caucus and crossed the floor to join leader John Rustad in the legislature, doubling the party’s standing in the legislature.
He said he believes he can serve his constituents better as a Conservative.
BC United Leader Kevin Falcon said in a statement that the move was not unexpected, but it’s still betrayal to Rustad’s constituents.
The governing New Democrats hold 57 seats and the BC United now with 26 after the defection. The Greens and Conservatives both hold two seats.
