New payment options to ride the bus when they start rolling again.
Umo is BC Transit’s new contactless fare payment system that allows you to pay for your fare with the payment method that best suits the customer.
Cash will also still be accepted as a payment method.
Umo is both a downloadable app and a free reloadable card, but BC Transit recommends the app if you have access to a mobile device, as it also has additional tools including real-time information, maps, and alerts.
The Village of Cumberland office has free Umo reloadable cards available.
It’s operational in the Comox Valley and Campbell River, the Port Alberni and Nanaimo transit systems, among others, and will expand to two dozen other systems next year.
