BC Transit Fare Changes

BC Transit is no longer selling paper tickets to board a bus.

They launched Umo in the Campbell River Regional Transit System in December, with other communities coming on board in the last month.

With that step complete, BC Transit says it is ready to move to the next phase of the Electronic Fare Collection System Project.

Effective today, BC Transit will stop selling legacy 10 Single Ride Ticket and Adult, Student/Senior and Post-Secondary Monthly Pass and Semester fare products.

Cash and the Province’s BC Bus Pass will continue to be accepted. Legacy tickets and pass fare products will be accepted until used up.

A new Umo compatible DayPASS Token will also be available to support the needs of social wellness organizations that offer free or discounted fare products.

Riders who have not yet transitioned to a Umo payment method and fare product are encouraged to visit bctransit.com/umo for an introduction to adopting Umo, including video tutorials on using the App and reloadable Umo card.

At a future date, BC Transit plans to provincially enable onboard payments with debit and credit cards.
