BC Hydro is getting set for a two week road closure across the John Hart Dam.

Brewster Lake Road will be closed off on either side of the dam on Sunday, November 27, at 7 a.m., and re-open on December 12 at 5 p.m.

The road will be closed 24 hours a day over the two weeks.

Temporary road closure signage is posted on either side of the dam. BC Hydro is asking motorists to use the alternative route of Highway 19.

There has been traffic control in place at the dam during the early site works since October, in preparation of the upcoming John Hart Dam Seismic Upgrade Project.

Along the way, some intermittent and short duration road closures have been in place for tree falling and for moving construction equipment.

BC Hydro’s John Hart early works include the creation of laydown construction areas, powerline relocations, and a new boat ramp that will be positioned outside of the planned double silt curtain, that will be placed within the John Hart Reservoir to protect water quality during construction.

The boat ramp is not public.
