BC Hydro is advising the public of upcoming equipment testing on the Puntledge Hydroelectric System that will result in high and fluctuating releases from the Comox Dam.
The testing is scheduled for today and Thursday.
Crews increased the flow from 15 cubic metres per second last night in preparation.
Release from the Comox Dam will fluctuate from about 50 m3/s to as high as 125 m3/s.
Due to high and changing flows, the public is being asked to stay away from all reaches of the Puntledge River for the duration of the testing.
Temporary safety awareness signage is in place along the river.
Inflows are expected to remain above normal for the remainder of the week. From Friday through late next week, the public is asked to be cautious along the Puntledge River.
