BC Hydro has extended a public safety advisory for people to use caution around sections of the Puntledge River.
Over the next 7-10 days inflows into the Comox Lake Reservoir are expected to remain above normal.
To ensure adequate room to absorb anticipated inflows and maintain operational flexibility during this storm season, crews will continue operations with a spill of approximately 50 cubic metres per second (m3/s) from the Comox Dam through Tuesday, December 16.
Temporary safety signage remains in place along all sections of the river highlighting the risk.
The operational flow changes will allow for crews to complete testing on components of the hydroelectric system as part of the Comox-Puntledge Flow Control Improvement Project.
