BC Hydro has issued a public safety advisory to stay away from the higher than normal flows down the Barber’s Hole & Nymph Falls section of the Puntledge River.
Significant water inflows from successive storms were seen in the region last month, totaling around 300 mm of precipitation in the upper watershed from Dec. 25-30, particularly focusing on central Vancouver Island.
Warmer temperatures contributed to substantial snowmelt December 28-30, which remains below the normal levels for this time of year.
The advisory is in place today through the rest of the month. Temporary safety signage will be in place.
