BC Hydro crews will be conducting vegetation maintenance within the Puntledge Public Use Management area for a stretch beginning next week.
From Tuesday, February 25th to Friday, March 14th, recreational trail users may experience intermittent, short-duration delays or minor detours along the East River Trail, West River Trail and Bevan Trail.
The vegetation work includes brushing, delimbing, and targeted tree removal to address hazard trees and trail pinch points.
Crews will be working on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and will complete the work in advance of the bird-nesting window.
Flaggers will be on-site to keep traffic outside of work zones.
Trail users can expect delays of up to 15 minutes or minor detours. The vegetation crew will do their best to limit impacts to trail users.
BC Hydro maintains its Puntledge River Public Use Management Area, which includes a series of recreation trails on both the east and west sides of the Puntledge River, as well as the Comox Dam Picnic Site, located on the north side of the dam.
Trail improvements, including the replacement of aging bridges, culverts, and boardwalks, are expected to begin in June.
