The Tseshaht First Nation is set to release the results of a preliminary search for unmarked graves, after 18 months of planning and operations at the former site of the Alberni Indian Residential School..
Tseshaht Nation officials say children from at least 100 Indigenous communities attended the school when it operated from 1900 to 1973.
The First Nation has been working at the site for the last year and half.
Chief Councilor Wahmeesh, whose English name is Ken Watts, says the preliminary findings will provide survivors and the Nation with the knowledge needed to continue their important and sacred work.
The findings will be released Tuesday afternoon.
