The Comox Valley Airport is once again turning its terminal into a gallery space, partnering with ARTWRX Studio and Gallery for its annual spring exhibition.
The show, titled Gathering Light, Gathering Place, features more than 50 original works from the Courtenay-based artist collective.
The exhibit is now on display and will remain in place through the spring and summer travel season, running into mid-October.
Airport CEO Mike Atkins says the partnership continues to enhance the travel experience for passengers, while also putting a spotlight on the region’s local arts community.
Artists with ARTWRX say they’re pleased to have their work featured in such a high-traffic space, calling it both a warm welcome for visitors arriving on Vancouver Island and a familiar touch for residents heading out on their travels.
ARTWRX Studio and Gallery operates as a shared creative space for local artists and offers visits by appointment.
For those who can’t make it to the airport in person, a virtual version of the exhibit is available through the Comox Valley Airport website.
Organizers say all of the artwork featured in the show is available for purchase, either through the studio or directly from the artists.
