It may be a little noisy along the Campbell River starting this week.
Annual testing is underway on the John Hart Siren System.
On Wednesday, from 8am to 6pm, spillway operating gate testing will occur, and sirens will sound.
They’ll do the same on Thursday, November 13.
On Friday, from 8am to 4pm, BC Hydro will be testing the John Hart facility warning system at four sites along the Campbell River.
Testing will occur from the John Hart Dam to Second Island.
Sirens may sound several times for up to five minutes each.
Through January, river flows may change suddenly as BC Hydro adjusts releases from the John Hart facility to manage flood risks during ocean tides.
The City of Campbell River says the tests help support community safety and raise awareness of potential river hazards.
