Cumberland Public Works has begun its annual spring utilities maintenance programs, including water main flushing and storm catch basin cleaning.
Work will be carried out this month and will continue through May, starting with water main flushing.
The flushing of water lines helps to clean the water distribution system, which in turn helps to keep water safe for consumption.
The Village reminds residents that flushing may cause some discolouration in the water. If this occurs, run an outside tap or the COLD water tap in a bathtub until water runs clear.
Also, be sure to check your water for discolouration prior to doing laundry.
