One person has been arrested after a serious assault in Cumberland.
Wednesday, July 5, around noontime, Comox Valley RCMP were called to a location on Third Street after a report of an assault with a weapon.
The victim sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries and was immediately taken to hospital.
Police quickly identified a suspect, who fled the area on an ATV into a rural wooded area. He was later caught with help from Police Dog and Air Services.
“Although the investigation is still ongoing, the evidence gathered thus far indicates that this was a targeted attack and there does not appear to be a risk to the general public,” said Constable Monika Terragni, Comox Valley RCMP Media Relations Officer.
The victim is still in hospital, in stable condition.
The suspect has been charged with multiple offences and remains in custody.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321.
