Voters in Campbell River, Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland who cannot make it to the polls on General Voting Day will have several opportunities to cast their municipal election ballots early.

General voting will take place Saturday, October 17, with advance voting beginning across the region on Wednesday, October 7.

In Campbell River, the first advance poll will be held October 7 at the Campbell River Community Centre on 11th Avenue. A second advance voting day will take place October 14 at the Sportsplex on South Alder Street.

Both Campbell River locations will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Eligible Campbell River residents who are not already included on the voters list can register when they arrive at the voting place. Resident electors must provide two pieces of identification establishing their identity and residency, with at least one containing a signature. Photo identification is not required.

Courtenay will also offer advance voting on October 7 and October 14. Voting will be available from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on both days at the Florence Filberg Centre, located at 411 Anderton Avenue.

On General Voting Day, Courtenay residents will be able to cast their ballots at either the Florence Filberg Centre or Queneesh Elementary School from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Town of Comox residents will have several opportunities to vote before October 17, with advance voting beginning October 7.

Voting by mail is another option for eligible Comox residents who would prefer to cast their ballots from home or may have difficulty attending a voting place.

Mail-ballot packages can be requested by calling the Town of Comox at 250-339-2202. Application forms and additional information about advance and mail-in voting are available at Comox Voting Options.

In Cumberland, advance voting will take place October 7 and October 14 from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Cumberland Cultural Centre, located at 2674 Dunsmuir Avenue. The same location will also be used on General Voting Day.

Cumberland residents do not need to register in advance but must bring two pieces of identification to the voting place. At least one piece must contain a signature, while photo identification is not required.

Mail voting is also available in Cumberland. Applications must be submitted to the Village office by 4:30 p.m. on October 9, and completed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on October 17 to be counted.
