There's an update from the Campbell River Hospice Society their 3rd annual ‘A Walk to Remember' fundraiser.
The 3km walk took place on May 13th, with 100.7 The Raven a proud sponsor.
Participants accepted pledges and walked in honour of loved ones lost.
The walk raised $13,796 for Hospice Care and Grief Support in Campbell River and surrounding areas.
Although the society does have several highly trained volunteers to help individuals through the grief process, the more complicated cases require a clinical counsellor's support, which is a significant operating expense.
Since the Covid pandemic, the society’s intake requests have increased by 81%, and 83% of all clients are struggling with complicated grief and loss, such as death due to toxic drug overdose, suicides, and sudden death.
