A fundraiser last weekend helped raise much needed funds in support of the First Open Heart Society of BC.
The 36th Annual Walk for Hearts left from Willow Point Hall north along the Sea Walk, and back.
President Ken McRann presented a plaque of appreciation to Jill Wright on behalf of the Willow Point Lions Club for their many years of donating the Hall for our event.
This year’s walk raised $10,385.50.
The society’s primary function is to raise money to provide financial assistance to heart patients to travel to Vancouver, Victoria, and beyond for treatments, surgeries, and appointments related to cardiac care, with their main focus on children.
Over the years, the event has raised close to $370,000 for cardiac patients locally.
