Residents in the Comox Valley may hear some pretty loud bangs over the coming couple of weeks.

Exercise TAZ RUNNER is an annual military exercise, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Air Force and conducted by 19 Wing Comox, at CFB Comox and nearby training areas.

The purpose is for the Canadian Armed Forces to train in the disruption of Improvised Explosive Devices.\

This year’s exercises continue through March 1, with controlled detonations happening starting tomorrow, through the end of the month, from 8a.m. to 5p.m.

Residents may also see increased vehicle traffic around 19 Wing Comox, HMCS Quadra via Goose Spit, and Seal Bay Armoury.

19 Wing says the activities are routine military training and there is no need to report them to 19 Wing or local emergency services.
