Don’t be alarmed if it gets loud around Comox Wednesday morning.
The 19 Wing Comox Explosives Disposal Flight will be conducting munitions clearing operations at the 19 Wing demolition range today from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The base says the operation is essential to safely dispose of unexploded and scrap munitions that have accumulated on the range since the 1940s.
Residents may hear loud noises due to controlled detonations.
The team says it will minimize noise where possible, but some disturbances in the local area may be expected. Firefighters will be on-site for each detonation.
The Explosives Disposal Flight has a mandate to collect and safely discard any munitions in the region, including those found on public or private lands.
