Community members will gather to honor workers who’ve been killed, injured, or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents. The day serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace safety and the ongoing commitment to preventing future injuries and fatalities. In 2025, 138 BC workers died from a workplace injury or disease, with each loss leaving behind devastated family & friends. Events feature moments of silence, guest speakers & more. In Campbell River, it begins at 10am at Frank James Park, while in Courtenay, events begin at 10am at the Lewis Center outdoor stage. Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
