The City of Campbell River and the Strathcona Regional District are thanking a number of individuals and businesses who helped out during and after last month’s landslide.
The slide behind a pair of condo units displaced dozens of residents for days before they were able to return to their homes.
When any type of emergency occurs, the Strathcona Regional District, through the volunteer Emergency Support Services program, provides food, accommodation, and incidentals for up to 72 hours to people who have been displaced from their residence.
The SRD says the success of the program depends on dedicated local businesses and organizations who are committed to supporting the community during an emergency or disaster.
Specifically, the SRD is thanking a number of businesses who helped out:
Above Tide Motel
Anchor Inn
Coast Discovery Inn
Passage View Motel
Popsey’s Restaurant
Real Canadian Superstore
SRD Protective Services Coordinator Shaun Koopman says the thank-you list is not exhaustive - only covering the local businesses who served as ESS Suppliers during the landslide.
Thirty volunteers from Emergency Support Services and the Salvation Army contributed over 200 hours of volunteer time.
